MARFU Sharks: Training Starts This Weekend

This weekend the MARFU Sharks start their 2007 season. Our goal is to win back the National Championship and to showcase the best players from MARFU for USA Rugby. This year is the start of USA Rugby's new High Performance program and the NASC will be the major selection vehicle for players to make the elite player squad for 2008..

Our schedule is similar to past years:

October 28th Practice - Alexandria, VA
November 10th Matches vs NRU - New Jersey
November 17th Practice - Washington, DC
November 18th NZ Ambo XV - Washington, DC
December 2 Practice - TBD

We are only taking one team to Florida this year, but plan on working with an expanded squad and hope to create a MARFU development side for early 2008. The practice this Sunday is important for all players, and the NRU matches will be our primary selection event. Players that miss these events, while not out of the selection process, will be at a disadvantage. Over the last couple of years we have created significant depth and we expect the competition for places to be high.
